I’ve been working on a Backbone.js application for a few days now, and I really feel like I’m finally getting the hang of it. I’ve run into a few snags here and there but for the most part I’ve been pushing ahead and my application is coming together nicely. I hope to do a post with the entire source code and a heavy breakdown of each area of the code and functionality. I’m certain that there are areas that I’m probably not doing “correctly”.
Rumors of massive layoffs at my current company are obviously not sitting well with me (or anyone else on my team) but we try to joke about it as much as possible. At the end of the day you can get all stressed out and worry, or just realize that something like this is completely out of your hands – hope for the best but expect and be prepared for the worst! (UPDATE: me and my team remained unscathed, and the layoffs lasted a single day. It was a very unpleasant day, especially for those that received bad news as well as those giving it I’m sure. I wish everyone the best that got let go and hope things work out for them.)
I pre-ordered the $99.99 Collectors Edition of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The original Aliens is one of my favorite all time movies. Boy was I disappointed to see that it has generally been receiving very very unfavorable reviews. I didn’t even open it when it arrived and just kept it in its box and returned back to Amazon. 5 bucks out of my pocket but probably worth it versus keeping the game and having a $99 piece of crap. At least there’s MGR: Revengeance next week!!!
Ended my week at work watching the hour long presentation Bleeding edge ASP.NET: See what is next for MVC, Web API, SignalR and more… by Jon Galloway and Scott Hanselman (on Channel 9). It was a great video and very funny and entertaining. A great look at the current and upcoming state of the Microsoft stack!
Oh, I also got a random challenge from someone at work to a Street Fighter IV showdown. Needless to say I walked away 7-0 😉
